Sunday 31st May 2009
Yay … Hardwick trip out to Breighton in Yorkshire - I looked on the chart & it was miles & miles & miles away – but thank goodness we had a Harvard to fly coz we got there in no time at all! Dom flew me & mum there – and thankfully he DIDN’T want to do any rolls lol!! We were excited coz we spotted our poster on the wall advertising the airshow …. It is such a good poster! Mum was also busy promoting things and left a stash of flyers – now let’s hope they all disappear!! After a good day it was time to go home …. Again in the Harvard – lovely day.

Saturday 30th May 2009
After our girlie pampering day it was back to the flying again. Mum & I went flying in the Harvard with Uncle Dave … and they turned my world upside down!!! Mum was practicing more rolls – ohh it’s much more complicated that I thought – need to get the speeds right as well when going round …. and the Harvard takes a loooonnnng time to roll around! Cor my head was in a right ole spin after that lot – was does mum want to do that for??!! Was quite glad to get my paws back on the ground and have a cuppa!

Well it was a real girlie day today as we all went off to the hairdresser for the pre-wedding hair do! Oooh didn’t those girls look so smart – I wish I’d taken my camera to get some pics! I even had bit of a make over – a wash & brush up and a little trimming of the fur … it was great – could get used to this!!

Thursday 28th May 2009

Mum & I have been busy again (but not with aircraft documents this time hee hee!)- we have been designing the new air show poster – it looks ever so smart … it’s of Grandad flying Marinell above some clouds against a blue sky – mum really has done well – it’s fantastic! And the best bit is ... I'm on it!!! After checking & double checking it for errors it was time to e-mail it to the world …. Well ok – email it to all our contacts!!! Hey Guys .... come to our Airshow!!

Wednesday 27th May 2009
It’s a Wednesday again – so that means airfield night again … good grief that has come round soooo quick! Mum & I were kept so busy with the paperwork side of things …. and all those log books to write up. Mum seems to think that as I have flown most of those flights then I should do the paperwork. But that’s not fair mum … Uncle Dave, Uncle Chris & Grandad don’t do the paperwork – why have I got to do it???!!!!! Oooops mum looks cross now …. Perhaps I should just do it!

I love being a flying bear – I get so many treats – and you should see my logbook … what an amazing array of aircraft I have in there!! Today I went for another ‘Marinell’ flight and this time it was with Uncle Dave – his 1st time in this Mustang – hmmm I don’t know which of us was more nervous??!! Only joking Uncle Dave – you flew really well!!

More flying today – this time with mum at the controls (Girlpower you know!!) and we went in her big Red Nosed Baby - the Harvard. It’s a lovely aircraft and it was so nice to fly around with mum …. So nice that we didn’t just have 1 flight – we had 2!!! Hee hee!

Saturday 23rd May 2009
Yippee – it’s the weekend and that means one thing … FLYING!! And what a lucky bear I was – I didn’t just get 1 Mustang flight, but I got 2!!! First of all Mum & I went with Grandad in Marinell to North Weald. I’ve never been there before and I thought it was lovely. We met Peter T and had a look around his Hanger 11 collection – he’s got a Mustang as well – Jumpin’ Jacques, and he’s got a Spitfire, Kittyhawk and a new aircraft – a Hurribomber – wow! Wonder how many I can get a lift in??!! Mum & I also went over to The Squadron to publicise ‘Bearfacedcheek’ and also get a scrummy breakfast!! To top off a great day mum & I went back to Hardwick in Janie (my namesake!) with Uncle Dave – my 2nd Mustang flight of the day …. What a lucky bear I am!!

Friday 22nd May 2009

Back to the calendar work – mum & I have been playing around with layouts. We still need to find more sponsors so that we have enough money to get it printed – then all the money from selling it goes straight into the charity fund. Just a few more to go now – right where’s mum’s contacts book – there must be someone we haven’t tried yet …..!!

Wednesday 20th May 2009
Wednesday means airfield night!! Mum kept me busy polishing and refueling the aircraft ready for the weekend … oooh there’s a lot of surface area on those Mustangs to polish, but they do look ever so nice when they are all polished and gleaming. Mum took some pictures of me posing on them … without any naked bums on them!!!

Tuesday 19th May 2009
Back to the task of chasing up pilots for confirmation of dates for calendar pictures – ooh they’re an awkward bunch & so hard to get together to photograph! Think at this rate I’m just going to have to sneak up on them and catch them unawares hee hee!!

Monday 18th May 2009
Mum & I had a very important job to do today – we had to bank all our cash from the fund raising at the weekend. Think we could have done with a security guard – where’s my lovely Firebear when I need him lol!! I also had to help mum with her spreadsheet to keep track of the cash …. Don’t think she’s much good with Excel – ooops she’ll tell me off now!!!

Sunday 17th May 2009
1st Hardwick open day of the year – and me & mum had been sooo busy setting up our little stall in the hanger. It looked so pretty decked out in pink & lots of people came to have a look, pick up some flyers / order forms & of course – buy our raffle tickets – well come on …. Look at the marvellous prize – little ole me!!!! And mum was chuffed to bits with the cash we managed to raise this afternoon!! Debs and Nigel flew in to see us in the afternoon & stayed for some Chinese …. Mmmm yum yum!!

Saturday 16th May 2009
At last – it’s the fly-in …. everything is set up and ready; the skies are blue; but it is sooooo windy - Grandad kept looking at the weather to see if it would be good enough to take the Mustangs – but it was far too windy for them all day & he had to call it off. Mum & I kept hoping that we would be able to get there in the Harvard – but again the weather beat us … so we had to offer our support from afar. Firebear stood in for me on the ‘Bearfacedcheek’ stall (ahh bless him!) while Vic & Debs kept the day running. The ‘Spot landing competition’ was very popular (I really wanted to have a go at that!!) and helped to bring the days takings up to almost £300 … yay!!

Thursday 14th May 2009
Sad day today – one of our calendar pilots Rob Howarth, had a crash in his Pitts 12. Poor mum was ever so upset and is wishing him well and thinking of him and his family. Not a nice side to aviation.

Wednesday 13th May 2009
Wednesday again – so it’s Airfield evening. Mum & I were kept very busy today as we set up Bear Faced Cheek stall for Hardwick open day on Sunday. It looks so pretty with lots of pink tinsel – Uncle Chris didn’t look too impressed though!! Mum has a map on the wall with all the places I have been as well as some cheeky calendar pictures – but don’t worry – you can’t see everything on these – that’s being kept for the calendar launch!!

Tuesday 12th May 2009
Still lots going on to plan for the Earls Colne event, bikes and old cars are coming as well as the little stalls. Grandad has said that we can still all fly down to attend, so lots of lovely aircraft at Earls Colne that day. The spot landing competition seems to be attracting a lot of interest … wonder if I’ll be allowed to have a go?? I do have lots of hours in my log book now – mum!! Can I have a go??!

Monday 11th May 2009
More airshow re-planning to do today – there’s a feeling of déjà vu here!! But it’s all in a good cause – so we’ll plod on. It’s amazing just how many little things there are to plan for an event like this!! Looks like I’m going to get lots of rides in lots of very different aircraft … this will make me a very special bear indeed – with a simply awesome logbook! We’re going to have a big stand that will be selling the calendar (lots of bums girls!) and also selling the raffle tickets for little ol’ me – LOL!

After the stress of the last few days it was back to the flying – yippee! Mum & I had a Harvard flight today with Uncle Dave – he was showing her how to do aileron rolls … oooohhh they had my head in a spin!! It was just sooo weird being upside-down and looking up through the canopy of the aircraft to see the ground!!! They look so easy to do from the ground – but boy they’re not!!! I was so glad to get my little paws firmly back on the ground!!

Ooops – think she heard that comment!!! Well we were kept busy all day sorting all the stuff out – and it was 2 very tired girls that crawled into bed tonight for our last day here!

Wednesday night is Airfield night! I was kept busy as the Harvard needed cleaning – cor mum has got it really dirty!! Hey mum I really need a pair of gloves you know – this cleaning stuff plays havoc with my fur – it has really dried it out – think I need some beauty treatment time – this is no way to treat a Superstar Bear you know!!!

Monday 4th May 2009
Yay – we went flying today!! I flew to East kirkby with Uncle Dave in the Mustang (hee hee – don’t tell Debs – she’ll be sooooo jealous – she loves that aircraft!). East Kirkby is a lovely place & I really enjoyed it there – had a good look around and me & mum handed out lots of flyers – yippee!! They had a nice little shop there as well and I really wanted to buy something – but mum wouldn’t let me!! But I did get to fly back with mum in her big red nosed baby!! Heard though the grapevine that Debs & Nigel were chucking teddy bears out of the Yak today ….. oooh mum – do I have to fly with them again??!
Sunday, 3 May 2009
Sunday 3rd May 2009
Grotty weather stops play again & we cancelled the display at Bolthead in the Harvard … I was really looking forward to that as well. And to make things worse I turned down a trip in the Yak with Nigel & Debs to Abingdon to display there, grrr! Hey mum – why can't we live in USA or something!!

Saturday 2nd May 2009
Quiet day with no flying as it was very windy at Hardwick. But mum & I have been busy as the new venue is confirmed for our airshow - Shipdham on Sept 27th. So it was time to design the posters and also plan what we need there for the day …. Ooohh here we go again – mum! Where’s that list??!

Friday 1st May 2009
After yesterdays bad news Mum & I were delighted to have some good news to cheer us up - Hawker Restorations agreed to sponsor the calendar – whoopee!!! So that’s another sponsor for our calendar … at least things on that front are going well. Still trying to sort out the airshow for the launch – but some positive news from Earls Colne – they are still going to hold the fly-in and spot-landing competition / open day and all for breast cancer – yippee!
