We flew from Gatwick to Hassi Messaoud in Algeria ... 3 hours 15 there (tailwind) & 3 hours 45 back (headwind!). It was a really nice flight & again Uncle Dom let me be completely in charge of the seat belt signs – yippee he really trusts me **smiley face**

Good ole Uncle Dom, he got us safely out and back into Gatwick today – despite the best efforts of the snow!! We had a Monarch flight down to Grenoble in France & back again. Now I’ve flown with Uncle Dom lots of times & we know how each other works & he put me in charge of the ‘seatbelts’ signs & left it up to me to do it at the right time ... oooh the power!!

Friday, 18 December 2009

Friday 18th December 2009

Last rest day & then it’s off to work with Dom tomorrow for a round of flights out of Gatwick. Hope the weather behaves and the airport isn’t closed again – snow & runways don’t mix very well it seems!!

Thursday, 26 November 2009

Thursday 26th November 2009

Wow what a great day today – I was a special superstar guest of BAES test pilots at RAF Marham. I went on a supersonic air test in a Tornado GR4A (eat your heart out Nigel – beats your flight tests LOL!!). That really did have the ‘wow factor’ ... 1.25 hours in a Tornado – awesome!! We were supposed to go in another Tornado, this time with 2sqn – but the aircraft went u/s ... wasn’t me mum – honest!! I didn’t touch anything **smiley face**

Wednesday, 25 November 2009

Tuesday, 24 November 2009

Tuesday 24th November 2009

Was offered flying with a difference today – The Army at Wattisham wanted me to have an Apache simulator flight & I was very very tempted .... I mean all those buttons to play with. You know the saying ‘so many buttons – so little time’ LOL!! Anyway in the end I declined ... I mean they might have been training me to kill the Taliban!!

Thursday, 19 November 2009

Thursday 19th November 2009

Last day in Germany today & it was good to be able to have a look around & be like a tourist!! I’ve learnt that it really does matter which airline you fly with – coz sometimes you get time to explore (like these guys) or other times you are on a tight turn around (like Dom!). Anyway it was a nice evening flight back from Hanover to Stansted, this time on a B737!

Wednesday, 18 November 2009

Wednesday 18th November 2009

We continued the German theme today by taking an afternoon flight on a A319 (I know how these work now!!) from Vienna to Hanover. And seeing as it was Germany it was time for some more schnapps & a nice piece of apple strudel. Hmmm I could get used to the German cuisine!! Yum yum **smiley face**

Tuesday, 17 November 2009

Tuesday 17th November 2009

Off to Germany today with Paul Clark – we went on A319 to Dusseldorf & we got there for a late lunch of schnapps & strudel ... hee hee I know how to live!!

Saturday, 14 November 2009

Saturday 14th November 2009

Brrr – feels like winter is well & truly here ... where have those balmy summer days gone?? It was windy & rainy today so all the aircraft stayed huddled in the hanger at Hardwick – well no-one wanted to fly in that!! Did have an ‘exciting’ evening though as it was the regular ‘Hardwick Film Night’ ... yawn I’m feeling sleepy – wake me up when it’s time to go home!! And I was just getting settled when mum woke me up – she’s had a brainwave (oh no!!) ... film night at Hardwick to raise money for Bearfacedcheek ... with wine ... cheesy film – Eureka!!! The ‘Cheesy Film Night for Bearfacedcheek’ is born!!! Here we go again!!

Friday, 13 November 2009

Friday 13th November 2009

We had a break from work (in the various disguises it takes!) today & went Christmas tree shopping instead. Ooooh it was sooo exciting – mums new tree for her new house ... she just didn’t know which one to pick!! She really wanted the huge 6ft one with LOADS of lights & trimmings but Uncle Paul wasn’t as keen – so they had a compromise. With all the marvellous decorations she has picked out it should look amazing!! Can we put it up now mum???

Thursday, 12 November 2009

Thursday 12th November 2009

People are being so generous for Bearfacedcheek – we held another fund-raising Pampered-Chef Party this evening over at Denton Village Hall– fantastic I love this Pampered Chef stuff mmm!! And it’s great all the help and support we’re getting for the charity. Bit of excitement today as the 2nd print run of calendars arrived and they’re looking good. So we took those along to the party tonight to sell as well as raffle tickets for me ... hope a Pampered Chef lady wins me – then I can keep eating the food!!

Wednesday, 11 November 2009

Wednesday 11th November 2009

More ‘Pampered Chef’ stuff tonight – mum had Mel over to do some Christmas recipe try-outs .... mmmm smells good. Mum – can I help?? I can be the official taster!!!Nothing better than some Christmas scrummy food on a cold winters night!!

Tuesday, 10 November 2009

Tuesday 10th November 2009

Mum’s been busy again – with her new job (don’t worry she’s not deserted Grandad at EyeTech!!) ... she’s now also a ‘Pampered Chef Party Planner’ – wow – it sounds so posh!! She organised a party tonight for Sarah – and Sarah went without her ‘Thank You’ gift and instead turned the party into a fund raiser for Bearfacedcheek .... thanks Sarah!! We also managed to get the calendars out on sale too!

Monday, 9 November 2009

Monday 9th November 2009

Quiet day today to reflect on yesterday. Lots of pictures of the poppy drop have been posted on facebook & they look really good. And everyone on the ground said it worked really well.
But I’m a bit worried ... how will they manage to organise it next year without me to help them?? Poor mum xx

Sunday, 8 November 2009

Sunday 8th November 2009

Remembrance Day today & a service is held at the memorial at Hardwick every year with Uncle Dave & mum doing a Poppy Drop from the Auster. I was a bit confused at how this works – especially when mum appeared carrying a big barrel to take in the Auster ... I thought she’d gone mad!! But then it all became clear – the barrel was filled with poppies – Uncle Dave flew us over the site – mum opened the door (yike!!) and out went the barrel with the poppies streaming out of it. Beautiful & very poignant ... well done mum & Uncle Dave.

Saturday, 7 November 2009

Saturday 7th November 2009

Weather improved today so mum & I went for a little flight in the Auster with Richard Grace. Glad to see he behaved himself & didn’t try to turn it upside-down like he does with the Spitfire!! Was a nice sedate flight – chance to plan for tomorrows special day.

Friday, 6 November 2009

Friday 6th November 2009

Yay – time for 104 Firework Party!!! I was soooo looking forward to this – mum has spoke about it loads ... but the weather was AWFUL. So much rain the ground was soaking – the people were soaking (you should have seen the state of some of them!!) – but the fireworks were spectacular .... 3 cheers for Grandad!! Then to warm up it was back to the hanger for Fish & Chips & a drink ... or2!! Still a brilliant night despite the bad weather!!

Thursday, 5 November 2009

Thursday 5th November 2009

Remember remember the 5th November gunpowder treason & plot!!! Lots of fireworks around today – but bit of a damp squib for me ... tried to fly with Uncle Paul but it just didn’t happen and I was grounded again ... boo!!!

Wednesday, 4 November 2009

Wednesday 4th November 2009

It’s hard work being a charity fund raiser! As well as selling the calendar & also tickets to win me mum is planning the ‘Party-in-Pink’ in January. We went out with Sarah today and managed to sell some more tickets for it – it’s going to be a great night! Going to be a bit sad for me as well as I’ll have to say goodbye to mum – but then exciting too as I get to meet my new family ... wonder who they’ll be?? Could be YOU if you’ve bought a ticket!!

Tuesday, 3 November 2009

Tuesday 3rd November 2009

Calendars are selling well – they do make excellent Christmas presents!! Mum sold another 8 today & was so happy. I love looking at them & think they are brilliant – sure it’s coz they have such a little photogenic bear on them!!! It’s really clever how the pilots have written a little piece about why the charity was important to them & their reasons for appearing – makes it all so personal ... well done mum!

Monday, 2 November 2009

Wednesday, 21 October 2009

Wednesday 21st October 2009

More civilised times today – 09:00 flight to Rhodes – nice to be able to take off at Edinburgh in the daylight!! I’m getting good at turning these seatbelt signs on & off – they leave me to it now – no need to tell me when to do it! Also know the routine and knew there was no time to get off and explore .... one day I’ll get to explore these foreign lands! And within the hour we were heading back to Edinburgh and this time I got to see the sunset .... never get tired of these sights – they are fantastic.

Tuesday, 20 October 2009

Tuesday 20th October 2009

Glad I had an early night last night as it was an even earlier flight out of Edinburgh this morning to Tenerife ... 06:00 take off – it was still dark for goodness sake!! But then I was able to watch the sunrise in the air (missed it yesterday as I was helping to serve breakfast in the cabin!!) – oooh magical moment! The view of Tenerife was amazing too with Mount Teide almost ruling over the island. Looked a lovely place with a constant hot temperature .... I wanna get off & explore!!!!!!!! But you guessed it another fast turn around and just over the hour we were heading back to Edinburgh just as it was starting to get dark – unbelievable! Time for a hot toddy I think ... but don’t tell mum!!

Monday, 19 October 2009

Monday 19th October 2009

Change of base now as we’re flying out of Edinburgh for a few days (Och eye tha noo!!). Had an early flight this morning to Reims France – 06:15 yawn!! Dom did warn me that the job isn’t glamorous ... guess I should have believed him!! And again no time to explore as it was a 45 min turn around ... but that meant we were back in Edinburgh in time for lunch ... spot of haggis anyone??!! LOL

Sunday, 18 October 2009

Sunday 18th October 2009

Last Hardwick open day of the season & I’m missing it as I’m on my travels. Hi mum – hope it’s a good day & you raise lots of money with your barbeque & calendar sales. Miss you – see you soon!

Saturday, 17 October 2009

Saturday 17th October 2009

Got a feeling of déjà-vu today as we’re off to Alicante again with Dom – same flight times too – so yes you guessed it .... STILL no time to explore!! Heard through the grapevine that it was Debs birthday today & they were having a girlie fly-out to Shoreham .... hmmmm Shoreham by the COLD sea or Alicante by the WARM one .... know where I’d rather be!!! Think I could get used to this lifestyle ... but I’d need a day off between flights though!!

Monday, 12 October 2009

Monday 12th October 2009

More Spanish travels with Dom & crew – this time to Alicante on the East Coast – not quite so far as Malaga. We had an earlier flight down and got there at 16:50 – but again no time to explore. In fact it was a much quicker turn around & we were off again 1 hour later. Think Dom picked up on my disappointment as he let me turn the seat belt signs on & off – cor I felt important!

Sunday, 11 October 2009

Sunday 11th October 2009

Well as lots of people are getting ready for Duxford Autumn Show I was getting ready to fly to Malaga with Dom on a Monarch flight! Ooooh I love these big aircraft – so many buttons to play with – ooops not that one says Dom!! We left Gatwick at 15:50 and had a lovely flight down to Malaga. Debs has been here loads & she told me to look out over the mountains on the way down .... it was amazing – lots of little houses up amongst the mountains – looks lovely. Also managed to spot Gibraltar ... wonder if I’ll get to go there on my travels?? Unfortunately we didn’t have long there – we landed at 18:15, but took off again at 19:50 for the return to Gatwick. We had lots of happy holiday makers on board – and I hadn’t even left the airport!!! “Welcome to my world”, says Dom!!

Better weather today (thankfully!) – clear blue skies, fluffy white clouds, and only a bit windy … all in all a great day for flying! Grandad took me flying in Marinell today – fantastic day for flying around in a Mustang – I loved it! We had to do some photo-shoot pics with Roberts car – that was fun & the pictures look amazing … only thing missing is a picture of me!! Then Uncle Dave took me & Dom for a flight in Janie …. ahh he’s such a nice man!! Two Mustang flights in one day – how lucky am I??!!
Then time for my surprise – mum has arranged for me to go flying with Dom for 3 weeks – wow!! Dom is a Captain on Monarch so I wonder what adventures I can get up to ….

Saturday 3rd October 2009

Well the British weather strikes again … grrrrr! Nice day today, not raining – but sooooooooo very windy, much too windy for Grandad to risk taking the Mustangs to Shoreham. And I was really looking forward to going there, we were going for the launch of the Mustangs SIM – as well as promoting me!!
So instead I had a nice relaxing day with mum & Uncle Paul … hope they don’t think I’m a gooseberry!!!

Friday 2nd October 2009

Wow – what a great day we have had – Earsham Hall is fantastic, we are going to have such a great night there. Mum & I were amazed and were busy planning our table layout lol! Lots of planning for ‘Party in Pink’ now. We’re also surprised and very pleased at how well the tickets are selling, there are only 150 & we are selling them fast – mum, don’t forget to get my ticket!!
It’s going to be a bittersweet night for me – a great party, fab food and all in aid of a very good cause – but it’s also the night where my raffle gets drawn and I will find out who my new home & family will be … hope they don’t live too far from mum!
Early night tonight – we’re off to Shoreham tomoz ….

Thursday, 1 October 2009

Thursday 1st October 2009

Back to the calendar stuff today – mum & I have been busy packing them for shipping for orders that have come in on-line. It’s all quite exciting really – but I do have sellotape stuck to my fur … paws really aren’t the best tool for packing these boxes!!
Exciting news happened later – mum got a call from ITV (wow!!) asking if any of our pilots wanted to appear on a new dating show they are going to run … Fantastic – the FAME!!! Time for mum & me to check out the pilots and find out if anyone wants to go!!
Well after all this excitement it was great to go for a relaxing swim – what a fun life we have!! **smiley face**

Wednesday, 30 September 2009

Wednesday 30th September 2009

Still on the calendar sponsor hunt today … & we are out to dinner tonight with a potential new sponsor … such a tough job but someone’s got to do it!! **smiley face**
If I hadn’t been so busy with these calendars I could have gone to RAF Wittering today with Uncle Nigel & Debs as they’d gone in for a GA day. Cor – sounded like fun – I could have had a sit in the Harrier … and also a go on the simulator – sure that all would have been a piece of cake for a superstar little bear like me!! **smiley face**

Tuesday, 29 September 2009

Tuesday 29th September 2009

Well it’s non-stop for us ‘charity people’ – so much to do!! Today mum & me were getting a collecting box ready to take with us on Saturday – as we’re off to Shoreham! Looking forward to that as I haven’t been there before and it’s supposed to be really good … and of course – it’s another excuse to go flying in a Mustang ** smiley face **!! Mum & I are going to be busy promoting Bearfacedcheek and hoping to sell lots of calendars and lots of raffle tickets for little ol me … hey(!) the Shoreham area could become my new home ** smiley face **!
Mum & I are also busy trying to find a new printer to do the calendar reprint – coz this one is selling so well we want to do another 500 print run!! But that also means we need to find another 12 sponsors (groan!) so that we have the money to print it again (oooh there is sooo much to do to print a calendar!!) … but mum has been working miracles and we already have 4 new sponsors … only 8 to go – LOL!!! **smiley face**

Monday, 28 September 2009

Monday 28th September 2009

Ahhh – the day after the day before!! Relaxing day today – no planning – no preparation – no stressing … just a day of counting money!! Well after counting – recounting – and counting again (!!) – our grand total for the airshow has come to £4124.56 …. WOW!!! Thank you everyone who supported the event!!
Mum has been busy reading all the reviews on the airshow forums – there are some nice pictures of the event and some nice photos of mum & me! Well actually there is something wrong there as there are more pictures of mum than me … and I am the Superstar Bear!!!
Finished the day off at Earls Colne to see Uncle Paul … nice to see him working while we relaxed – hee hee!! Mum is now turning her attention to ‘Party in Pink’ on 16-01-10 at Earsham Hall- I’m looking forward to this as it’s mums birthday and a chance to party – BUT – it’s also the raffle for people to win me – so it’s going to be when I find out who my new family are. So on one hand it’s quite exciting; but on another it’s going to be sad saying good bye to mum **sniffle** ….

Sunday, 27 September 2009

Sunday 27th September 2009

Yay!!! At last – our big day – the bearfacedcheek2010 Airshow!!!! It started off misty & a bit foggy in places this morning and therefore held people up for a while – but then the weather broke and it was the most glorious day – just the sort of day you pray for – fantastic!! The day was great – mum & me were kept busy on our stall … Nannie Diane came & helped us, as did Uncle Paul. We sold loads of calendars – mum has less than 100 left now! Loads of raffle tickets to win me (who can refuse that!!) were also sold, as well as raffle tickets for prises on the day – cor we were busy!
Then it was time for the air display – I wanted to fly, but mum wouldn’t let me – said I had to help promote the calendar & tickets … boo!! Well the guys (& gel!) were brilliant and put on a fantastic display – saw a new formation grouping of the Harvard & the Yak – hey they looked good together … wonder if we’ll see them again?? Debs was kept busy doing her FDD bit – have to keep these display pilots in order you know!! She also had to keep the public away from their aircraft during the display – good job she’s bossy – hee hee!! Well all in all a fantastic day & we were all shattered at the end – have to see how much we’ve raised now …

Saturday, 26 September 2009

Saturday 26th September 2009

Final preparations for the show today – and we really really hope the weather tomorrow is as good as today … everything is crossed!! The runway and the parking area has been swept – TWICE – so should be ok for all our display aircraft. Can’t wait to see them all here – what a wonderful collection we have … P40 Kittyhawk; Spitfire; 2 x P51 Mustangs; Extra 300; Harvard; Yak 52; Dukes of Cassutt …. wow!! Mum has enlisted her army of helpers to bring everything over – cor these boxes of calendars are heavy!!
Uncle Phil has also been busy with the organisation of the Shipdham crew – we have some nice men who are marshalling our aircraft; we also have 2 other nice men – Duncan & Glen – who are going to do the radio for us; and we have the RAF helicopter coming in to fly the ATC cadets … wonder if I can hitch a ride in it??! I have been helping mum bag up the sweeties to sell & I was doing a very good quality control check … until she stopped me – ooops!! Can’t wait for tomorrow – going to get an early night so that it comes quickly …!!

Friday, 25 September 2009

Friday 25th September 2009

Ooooh what an exciting day mum & I have had today!!! We have been very busy at Shipdham Airfield setting up our gazebo – cor it was big and needed a lot of people to put it up – I supervised of course!! Mum was so excited putting our banner up – it looked great on top – and will attract the punters I’m sure . Mum has got all her tables organised – we’ve got one selling the sweeties (if Uncle Paul leaves them alone!); one selling calendars (it would be great if we could sell out!!) & the final one selling raffle tickets to win me … oooh I might get to meet my new family!!
Then came the exciting bit of the day – mum & I were whisked off to Radio Wayland to be interviewed live on air … WOW!! Mum was sooooo nervous – but she was brilliant – so much so I couldn’t get a word in edgeways – LOL!! She explained all about what we were doing and took a calendar too – oooh it made me blush to look at all those bums again!! The man on the radio was ever so nice and treated us like celebrities – ooooh I could get used to this!! Uncle Tim managed to put the interview on Facebook … so there is no excuse not to listen to it!!!

Thursday, 24 September 2009

Thursday 24th September 2009

Ooooh we've had a fun day today ... sorting out the sweeties for our sweet stall at the airshhow ... but we had to be careful that Uncle Paul didn't nick them all!!!
Mum got her camera out & took some pictures of him with all the sweets and she then posted them on facebook - guess I had better be careful what I get up to around her & her camera - LOL!!!

Wednesday, 23 September 2009

Wednesday 23rd September 2009

Hope we have some calendars left for our Airshow ... they are going like hot cakes!! Poor mum is now stressing & worrying about them - should we have printed more in the 1st place?? Ooooh this charity work is so stressful!

Tuesday, 22 September 2009

We did spend some time looking at the Airshow Reviews on the Forums - oooh mum - lots of pictures of you - & some of little ol me!! We also updated my Facebook page - hey I've got lots of friends!!!

Sunday, 20 September 2009

Sunday 20th September 2009

Wow – it was a lovely flying day today – the weather was perfect ... only problem was I didn’t get to fly. But it was all in a good cause as I was sales girl again for the calendar & raffle tickets – and we sold lots again – and some calendars ... wow they’re going quick! Hardwick was very busy today as it was the open day – a few people flew in – Uncle Nigel & Debs amongst them ... & some of last night’s party people were still there too! Grandad & Uncle Dave were kept busy in the Mustangs ... well that’s what people come to see fly! The Harvard was also kept busy – but as Chris was away in the USA the Stearman didn’t fly today. After another busy day promoting next weeks airshow & selling tickets & calendars Grandad got the BBQ out ... mmmm yummy!
Mum & I have had some fun looking at our pictures on the forums on-line ... there’s a really nice one of both of us before our display & another one of us in the air – hee hee you can see me helping mum with her display! What a great weekend we’ve had ... wonder what next week holds??

Saturday, 19 September 2009

Saturday 19th September 2009

I've been looking forward to today - as I get to see mum again after my 2 week holiday ... I have missed her. I flew with Uncle Dale in G-BOTH to Elmsett for their Open Day. I was ‘guest of honour’ on the ‘Ted-Devils’ stall ... these are the dare-devil teddies that go parachuting from the Yak!!! Well rather them than me – why would you want to leave a perfectly serviceable aircraft??!! So instead of parachuting I made sure we were plugging the calendar – I quite enjoyed being the sales girl! Mum also took me flying on her display – we had our photo taken 1st & it was for the UK Airshow Forum (ooooh – POSH) - & he also got some pictures of our display (oh ok ... mum’s display!!). The SAR Seaking was in from Wattisham & I wanted to go & say hello to my old mates – but I was kept busy on the stall ... but I did make sure I told EVERYONE about the display next week!
Well after our fun-filled day I headed home with mum in the Stearman – she was a bit nervous as it has been a while since she’s flown it – but she was fine. We finished off the day with a BBQ at Hardwick – glad to be back!!

Friday, 18 September 2009

Friday 18th September 2009

Last day at Norwich today & no flying again – but also no more airlaw study or exam ... I was a bit worried about that!! Instead I had a lovely day playing with Scarlett ... I shall miss her when I’ve gone back to mum (wonder if she’ll have a little baby for me to play with??!!). Uncle Dale was busy today putting the finishing touches for the display routine tomorrow ... it’s looking good!!

Thursday, 17 September 2009

Thursday 17th September 2009

Uncle Dale has been looking at Auntie Andrea’s pictures she took of BBMF aircraft last week. They really are very good – some lovely shots there. They had been deciding which ones to print out & the choice was really huge!! Well done Auntie Andrea ... “Andrea Snapper-Flash”!!

Wednesday, 16 September 2009

Wednesday 16th September 2009

Managed to escape airlaw today – phew! Instead I played with Scarlett and we were reading stories about ‘In the Night Garden’ – much much more enjoyable!! Don’t want to read an airlaw book ever again ... can’t believe mum had to learn this stuff!!

Tuesday, 15 September 2009

Tuesday 15th September 2009

Uncle Dale has got some good training cds he uses for ground school with his students & he thought it would be a good idea for me to learn about airlaw ... oooh I’ve got a headache now – it’s sooo boring!! Ooops – don’t think I’m supposed to say that but the subject is just so huge & there is just so much to learn ... I hope he doesn’t make me sit the exam!!

Monday, 14 September 2009

Monday 14th September 2009

Day off again – can’t believe I’ve been here over a week now – really enjoying myself here in Norwich. Hope mum isn’t too busy without me to help her!! Bet Debs & Nigel are busy with planning the Elmsett show too – Uncle Dale has been planning his routine for that show!

Sunday, 13 September 2009

Sunday 13th September 2009

Had some more internet time today & went looking at the aviation forums – cor there’s lots of photos on those sites!! Found lots of Grandad’s aircraft - & especially my namesake – Janie! Was pleased to see some of mum too & Nigel & the Yak!

Saturday, 12 September 2009

Saturday 12th September 2009

Thought I’d help Debs out & update the website with my diary exploits ... oooh there’s lots of catching up to do!! Also managed to post some pictures from airshows in the summer!

Friday, 11 September 2009

Friday 11th September 2009

Quiet day today with no flying – but that’s ok coz it meant more time to play with Scarlett’s toys!! Wonder how mum is getting on with planning the airshow??

Thursday, 10 September 2009

Thursday 10th September 2009

More circuits at Norwich in the C150 G-BABD ... this was the little aircraft that Debs had her 1st lesson in **smiley face**.
Then it was time for a special flight as it was a 1st solo for one of Dales students – J Dimarco. Good job I was there to keep the nerves calm - & it worked as it was a brilliant 1st solo – yippee another pilot is born!!
CONGRATS **smiley face**

Wednesday, 9 September 2009

Wednesday 9th September 2009

Ooooh look at the date today – 09-09-09 & clever Uncle Dale took us flying & we were airborne at 09:09 ... spooky!!! We went to RAF Conningsby in G-BOTH for a very special assignment. Auntie Andrea is going to do some air-to-air photos of BBMF Spitfire, Hurricane & Dakota – wow, that was fun!! There’s a lot more to aerial photography than I realised & Auntie Andrea is really good - & patient to put up with Uncle Dale’s nagging!!
When we got back to Norwich I went on a skills test with uncle Dale in another C150 ... I feel so sorry for those poor students!!

Tuesday, 8 September 2009

Tuesday 8th September 2009

Relaxing day today – well a little superstar bear needs to get her beauty sleep & keep her energy levels up!! It was really nice relaxing at Andrea & Dale’s cottage – they have a fab picture in their lounge of them in another Yak – G-YAKO ... nice picture but shame about the Yak colour scheme lol!! (Think that’s a running joke between the Featherbys & Nigel & Debs)!!

Monday, 7 September 2009

Monday 7th September 2009

Mondays are Dale & Andrea’s day off so it was a ‘no-fly day’ – but it was an exciting day for me – Scarlett was busy showing me all her toys – wow!! We had great fun playing with them all – I hope Andrea & Dale have bought some raffle tickets – I’d like to live here!!

Sunday, 6 September 2009

Sunday 6th September 2009

Different little aircraft to fly in today – a C150 ... bit of a squeeze with me, a student & Uncle Dale!! Ooops – hope he doesn’t read my diary – hee hee!! We done some circuits ... ooh they feel different at a big airport & the ATC was so posh – had to behave my self!!
Norwich City looks good from the air – the cathedral stands out really well. Good 1st day me thinks!!

Saturday, 5 September 2009

Saturday 5th September 2009

Early start for us today as we had to get to Seething by 08:30 for the airshow briefing ... yawn - I was sleepy!! Debs was very nervous as she was FDD and had lots to do & worry about - I did tell her not to worry as I was there to help her .... but she didn't look too relaxed about that!!! Well her brief was ok and all the pilots behaved! Poor mum was a bit stuck coz of the wind and couldn't actually land at Seething (boo - I missed her & wanted to see her!) But she based out of Hardwick & done a lovely routine with John Dodds in a cub... need to find her some music to display to then that will look perfect! Uncle Dave & Grandad made it in in the Mustangs and done a good paired display ... after Grandad 'shot' down a ME108 ... wish i was with him - I'd have got him Grandad!! Then Nigel & Debs started chucking Teddy Bears out of the Yak for a 'Ted Devil Parachute Display' .... oooohhh not sure I want to fly with them again - I don't want to be chucked out!! Anyway after the display I got a treat - I went to spend some time with Uncle Dale at Anglia Flight at Norwich INTERNATIONAL (wooo!!!) Airport. We had a nice flight back in a C182 with his daughter Scarlett - ahhh she's a sweetie ... wonder what fun we'll get up to on my little holiday ....

Friday, 4 September 2009

Friday 4th September 2009

Another Earls Colne day – and it was rather windy today so I didn’t manage to get a flight – boo. Debs was hoping to move the Yak from Earls Colne to Elmsett ready for an early start Saturday morning to Seething and Victoria & I were going with her. But the wind was too strong and Uncle Nigel had to come and do it – well Victoria got to fly in it still – but in her excitement she forgot me so I didn’t go – grrrr!!!!

Thursday, 3 September 2009

Thursday 3rd September 2009

Went to a meeting at another airfield tonight, about another air show!!! I went with Debs to the Elmsett meeting for the air show on 19th September (the week before ours!). There’s a load to do and talk about when arranging an air show – I didn’t realise! Mum & Grandad are displaying at this show as well as Uncle Nigel …. wonder what I’ll get to display in …. Hope it’s the Mustang with Grandad again! I met all the Elmsett people and they were all interested in the charity and said that I can go on the ‘Ted-Devils’ stall to sell raffle tickets and also calendars. Hmmmm – Ted-Devils – hope I don’t end up doing a parachute jump like those others bears!!

Wednesday, 2 September 2009

Wednesday 2nd September 2009

Mum has been working hard on arrangements for our air show – and it all seems to be coming together now with all the acts confirmed and the ground side coming together as well! We’ve got a bouncy castle; food stalls (yum!); motorbikes and old cars coming on static display; as well as all the aircraft – fab!! Can’t wait – hope we sell loads of tickets and loads of calendars!!!

Tuesday, 1 September 2009

Tuesday 1st September 2009

Yippee more flying today … this time with Graham ‘TopGun’ Parker! Think Firewoman Vic was due to go up with him, but it got too busy in the club & she was needed and couldn’t get away – so I went instead. We went in GECAC and had a nice little bimble around the local area. Graham was busy showing me all the sights and pointing things out to me – bless him! I think he thought that this was my 1st look around the local area …. didn’t like to tell him that I now know my way around with my eyes shut lol!!!

Monday, 31 August 2009

Monday 31st August 2009

Well after all the fun and excitement of yesterday it was back to Earls Colne today … this time with mum & Uncle Paul in the car – and guess who was working again ….. Debs!!!! It was a bank holiday today – so was better than a normal Monday! Was a good day as a few of yesterday’s ‘fan club’ came in for a chat and also a look at the pictures on Facebook!! I love being a little superstar flying bear!!

Sunday, 30 August 2009

Sunday 30th August 2009

Another air show – and this time it’s one run by another bear … Pudsey Bear – we are off to the Little Gransden Air Show!! Quite a few of our friends are going so it should be a good day. I flew in with Uncle Vernon and friends in CV – call sign ‘Pudsey 33’!!! We met up with Debs and she took me around the show introducing me to people and we gave out loads of flyers. It was such a squash when we went to the pilots’s brief and there was so much to sort out …. Grandad & Uncle Dave were planning their escape after their slot! I flew with Uncle Nigel today & we started off in formation (of sorts) with a Yak 18 – unusual looking machine – had a really funny looking nose cowl! Then Nigel ‘strutted his stuff’ including one of those lomcevak things … I still don’t know how he knows which way is up??!! I was supposed to go flying with Uncle Dale in a Cornell … but unfortunately it went tech – so didn’t get a go in that. Finally after a busy day I hitched a lift back to Hardwick with Debs & Uncle Nigel – as mum also managed to beat an early escape from the show! Phew - was tired and glad to get to my bed after the fun of today.

Saturday, 29 August 2009

Saturday 29th August 2009

Cor – Debs was working again … I can’t get rid of her!!! Uncle Nigel was busy cleaning the Yak for tomorrow and I expect the Hardwick Crew are doing the same to the aircraft up there … shame I can’t help coz this cleaning stuff really plays havoc with my fur … and let’s face it – a little superstar bear like me shouldn’t be cleaning aircraft!!!!

Friday, 28 August 2009

Friday 28th August 2009

Debs was working at Earls Colne today – as Firewoman Victoria has been on holiday all week – well it is the end of the holidays …. nearly time for all the kiddies to go back to school!! I helped on the desk today – and promoted our charity – loads of visitors were asking me about it – so I was able to give out some flyers!

Thursday, 27 August 2009

Thursday 27th August 2009

Poor mum was really stressed today – she’s having trouble with the printers for the calendar. She wants them for the air show this weekend, but they’re still not ready – even though they have been promised. Mum really wants to see the finished article – and then get selling them!!!! Come on peeps – buy one of our fab calendars – orders placed on line!!!

Wednesday, 26 August 2009

Wednesday 26th August 2009

Yippee – Uncle Paul remembered to take me flying today – at last, I LOVE being in the air! We had to take GBZET across to Andrewsfield for maintenance – I was pleased how good my nav was on this flight – I found the airfield before Uncle Paul!! We then had to fly GBNRL back to Earls Colne as it had just come out of maintenance … Uncle Paul used me as a guinea pig to practice his instructor skills on …. Cor he’s a hard task master!!

Tuesday, 25 August 2009

Tuesday 25th August 2009

Well I’m still enjoying my time at Earls Colne – but they STILL keep forgetting to take me flying … booo!! But I think perhaps I should be at home helping mum – she’s got so much to do with organising the Air Show; the calendar; the raffle – didn’t realise how much there was to do to raise some money for charity!

Monday, 24 August 2009

Monday 24th August 2009

Hee hee air show fever seems to have caught the imagination of EGSR pilots and friends as there’s lots of planning about attending the Little Gransden show – at which I am starring I’d just like to say!! Mum & Uncle Paul are going of course (!) & they have drummed up support from Vernon (who’s flying in with a couple of friends); Andy & Lisa are driving; Uncle Tim is coming with a crew from Seething and of course Debs & Nigel will be there! Mmm me thinks I have a mobile fan club – LOL!!

Sunday, 23 August 2009

Sunday 23rd August 2009

Yippee – I went flying today – in a new aircraft to me – a TB10, G-TZEE. I went with Andy, a friend of Uncle Pauls and we went on a local bimble. It was a nice day for it with great viz … I could see Canary Wharf when we took off and also see the coast. This was quite a comfortable aircraft – a good one to tour in says Uncle Paul – quite a change from the Mustang … but I know which one I would chose!!!

Saturday, 22 August 2009

Saturday 22nd August 2009

Cor Earls Colne was busy today – they were holding a ‘Formation School Day’ & the clubhouse was packed at 09:00 with the eager pilots ready to listen to Uncle Nigels brief! Crumbs I didn’t realise there was so much to formation flying – my head was spinning after listening to that lot, Grandad & Uncle Dave make it look so easy! I’m going to watch what they do next time I fly with them …. see if they follow the rules correctly – hee hee!! Richard Grace was here helping Uncle Nigel with the training – it was fun watching them do the take offs and landings … good day.

Friday, 21 August 2009

Friday 21st August 2009

Another Earls Colne day … think I’m going to have to learn to do the radio or something – need to earn my keep here!!! It was American Air Day at Duxford today & we were hoping for some transiting traffic to come through our zone – but no such luck. Ho hum ….. need to fly!!!!!

Thursday, 20 August 2009

Thursday 20th August 2009

Still no flying today – they keep forgetting me – boo!!! Think I need to go and stand by the door so I am right in their faces – then they won’t forget!! Think mum & Uncle Paul are having a competition to see who can sell the most raffle tickets …. Hate to tell Uncle Paul that he has NO chance …. Mum has sold LOADS!!!! Yippee!

Wednesday, 19 August 2009

Wednesday 19th August 2009

Think I’m doing too good a job of customer service as they keep forgetting to take me flying … oi!!!! I want to fly!! Mind you I think Firewoman Victoria was glad of my company as you can only have so much of mens club in one day – hee hee!! Anyway we enjoyed ourselves on Facebook …. Looking at all the pics from the weekend!

Tuesday, 18 August 2009

Tuesday 18th August 2009

Spent the day at Earls Colne with Uncle Paul – well as a new instructor I thought I’d give him some support … and mum asked me to look after him!! We made sure we chatted to the students all about the calendar and the charity …. And of course we asked them to buy some tickets to win little ole me!!

Monday, 17 August 2009

Monday 17th August 2009

Well after that busy flying weekend it was nice to have a bit of a break on Monday!! Mind you saying that mum is still busy with the Shipdham Air Show, the calendar & my raffle … while Debs & Uncle Nigel are sorting out the Seething show …. hee hee there’s still lots of flying to be done & air shows to attend. I LOVE being a little flying superstar bear!!

Sunday, 16 August 2009

Sunday 16th August 2009

More flying today as mum & me were off to Rougham. It’s their main air show today and mum is flying the Auster as part of the ‘Breakout Scenario’ during the display. It was a fantastic show – lots of aircraft – pyrotechnics – and sunshine!!! Uncle Nigel had been busy and had arranged for all the programmes to have flyers about our air show & charity in them … so everyone at Rougham knew all about little ole me & what I’m up to!! I’m hope after the raffle my new family are aviation buffs and still take me to air shows … coz I’d miss these if I couldn’t go any more.

Saturday, 15 August 2009

Saturday 15th August 2009

The big day at last!! Lots of preparation going on at Hardwick to get everything ready for today – all the aircraft were gleaming. Mum & I went in the Harvard as mum was flying it as a cameraship to photograph the 3 Mustangs going into Fowlmere … wow – it was awesome!! Grandad was flying the star of the show – Marinell; while Uncle Dave was flying Janie & Uncle Rob was flying The Doll – fantastic sight … brilliantly supervised by a superstar little bear!!! We spent a lovely day at Fowlmere – and mum made sure she told everyone about me and the charity – and sold more tickets / calendars. To top off a brilliant day I flew home with Uncle Dave in my namesake …. Cor I was a tired little bear when we got back to Hardwick.

Friday, 14 August 2009

Friday 14th August 2009

Well after my fun week with all the helicopters it was time to stop whirring around and come back down to earth! Auntie Janet came to pick me up to take me back to see mum – oooh I have missed her and Grandad & all those aircraft. Mum was so pleased to see me and made such a fuss of me! Then we had to spend some time cleaning the little Auster ready for our display at Rougham on Sunday and most importantly we had to get the Mustangs ready for Saturday’s adventure. We’re off to Fowlmere for the 65th anniversary since Marinell took off on her last mission before being shot down – ooohh it’s going to be emotional. Mum is flying the camera ship to take photos of Marinell with Janie & Big Beautiful Doll …. Wonder where I’m flying??

Thursday 13th August 2009

Well no chance to sit down and relax today ... busy busy day ... I had 3 flights to do today and managed to clock up 2hrs 10 mins in 3 different helicopters!!! My 1st job was with the 'Boys in Blue' in their helicopter - and WOW!!! I've never seen so many different gadgets and buttons on it - that machine could do everything bar make a cup of tea!! It really was a case of so many buttons so little time ... my paws were itching to have a go! After that we went in a big Sterling machine to go and do a Pipeline Survey ... cameras to play with this time. Finally I got to go on a local bimble in Sterling's baby helicopter - that was great fun!

Wednesday 12th August 2009

Well after all my excitment of yesterday I had a day of rest at Sterling today - and they looked after me very well, well I am a little superstar bear after all!! I was kept in tea and biscuits and had the most comfy chair to relax in!! The guys at Sterling were all very interested in what we're getting up to, so I was able to show them our website - they liked the calendar - hey mum ... we should have asked these guys to do it!!!! They said our airshow sounded really good - I keep trying to talk them into coming in ... wonder if they will??

Tuesday 11th August 2009

Big day for me today .... my training flight on the Air Ambulance Helicopter! Cor it was a HUGE yellow machine (you'd never miss this!!). I went in G-RESC (cool reg!!) and I was surprised how manoeuvrable it was - we were whizzing everywhere!! Captain Barton was a very nice man & he let me have a fly .... it was great fun!! They are really good helicopters completely kitted out for any emergency - hope we don't have to use it for real.

Monday 10th August 2009

Ooooh I thought I was in trouble today when Auntie Janet said she was taking me to the Police - eek!! But it was ok coz they are friendly policemen that fly around in the police helicopter (now I know who makes all that noise at night!!)- men in uniform - must remember to tell Firewoman Victoria!! Anyway the people from Sterling Helicopters are going to look after me for the rest of the week - and take me up in the helicopters as they operate the Police heli; Air Ambulance; & their own fleet - wow!!! Looks like I'm in for a fun week.

Sunday 9th August 2009

Back to Shipdham today for some more gliding – I’m getting to like this lark! I went in the Faulke motor glider with Bruce Owen & Geoff Draycott and we had a special little job to do – well they needed a special bear to oversee this special job you see! We had to fly over a little fete so that the people could guess the height of us …. Hee hee that was fun!

Saturday, 8 August 2009

Saturday 8th August 2009

Mum & I went off on a little fly out to Shipdham today to have a meeting about the Open Day in September – we met up with Nigel & Debs again, and I got to meet Uncle Phil for the 1st time (heard he was a very nice ‘Uncle’ to Pudsey when Nigel & Debs had a flying year with him). It was a good meeting and it almost seems we're there – just got a few last minute issues – like toilets & banners, but we’re working on it!!! Mum had arranged for me to have a little holiday with Auntie Janet (the wife of one of the naked glider pilots) … ooooh hope he doesn’t want to do another photoshoot!! So she left me in the care of Auntie Janet as she wanted to get home & celebrate Paul passing his test to become a flying instructor – yay well done Paul!! Auntie Janet arranged for me to go for lots of glider flights … I was rather worried at first as there is NO ENGINE!!!!! But Lauren was fab & showed me exactly what to do and how to come safely back to earth – wow – these glider pilots are quite skilful! We had to stop our gliding for a little while as Debs went solo in the Yak for the 1st time (but it was ok coz we went again as soon as she was down!!) – and then it was time for a little celebration – yippee!!

Friday, 7 August 2009

Wednesday 5th August 2009

Airfield night tonight – these Wednesday evenings come around so quickly! Still trying to keep away from those mucky engines – that oil messes my fur up!!

Tuesday 4th August 2009

More airshow planning
More ticket selling
More calendar plugging
Gosh we’re sooo busy!!

Monday, 3 August 2009

Monday 3rd August

Monday – no flying – back to work ….. the weekends just go soooooo quickly! We chased printers for proofs today – as we’re just longing to see this calendar in all its glory!! Mum has been busy again trying to arrange to get 500 envelopes and carrier bags for calendars when we sell them at airshows but with no luck – poor mum – she’s going to try again tomorrow. But on a positive note we did sell 15 more raffle tickets and some more calendars (& they’re sold unseen!!). Later I went to airfield to do some paperwork with mum – no rest for the wicked!!!

Sunday, 2 August 2009

Sunday 2nd August

Well after yesterday’s disappointing flying/weather Mum & I decided to cheer ourselves up with a flight in the T6, when it started – we’re jinxed!! We had a fly around Framlingham and Southwold – I really like it round there. We saw the castle at Framlingham & it’s surprising how small it looks from the air … looked like there were plenty of visitors enjoying a lovely day out! Then at Southwold we spotted the lighthouse – I’m told there is a very nice pub there … wonder if mum will take me there for lunch?? Well it won’t be today as we had more visitors to see to and we handed out loads more flyers!!

Saturday, 1 August 2009

Saturday 1st August

British Weather strikes again – NOT happy :-{ Weather was pants so mum & me couldn’t go to East Kirkby as Auster wouldn't beat the weather back and Uncle Chris & the Stearman didn’t go either. But I did manage to get there with Grandad in Marinell as we opened the show with Uncle Dave in Janie – but we based out of 104 so didn’t get to land and see Debs & Nigel again – but Debs did get some pictures! In the end it turned out that the weather wasn’t as bad as predicted so we could have all gone …. Grrrrrrrrr!! Well for some positive news – we sold 20 more raffle tickets!

Friday, 31 July 2009

Friday 31st July

Mum & I were busy today with updating the stall at Hardwick. We now have the calendar cover up and it looks really good – hope this will generate some more interest at the Open Days!! We sold another calendar today – yippee! I’m sure the main selling point there is that I am in the calendar – I mean, who can resist pictures of me??!! We’ve also been busy working on the "final" layout and now it’s off to the printers for full proofs – getting sooooooo excited now – mum is a bundle of nerves hoping her pictures are ok! Busy weekend for us as well as me & mum are displaying at East Kirkby, as well as Grandad & Uncle Dave in the Mustangs … Uncle Chris is coming along for the ride in ‘Boeings Finest’!! Best we go and get the Auster ready then … now where’s my gloves – got to protect my paws!!

Thursday, 30 July 2009

Thursday 30th July 2009

OMG!!! It’s getting so close to going to the printers I just can't wait!! We’re just waiting for a few last minute details on the calendar, some little comments from people, and then we are good to go!! Everyone is working so hard for Bear Faced Cheek – it’s amazing that the tiny idea we had so long ago is almost ready to launch – fantastic!!!!

Wednesday 29th July 2009

Wednesday 29th July 2009
More excitement today (just how much can we take??!) - a front cover proof arrived this morning and it looks so good!! Mum and I are so pleased with it & mum just can’t stop grinning! Dave has done a great job with the editing – it really is very good! Melvyn has also been working his socks off on the layouts and pictures – I’m amazed at how much work goes into them. He is now mum’s and my new ‘hero’!!

Tuesday, 28 July 2009

Tuesday 28th July 2009

Exciting news - hot off the press (so to speak!) our calendar printers, Printed solutions, said they'd sponsor a month on the calendar so we could use ALL the pictures of pilots who modelled for us and have a 13 month calendar! Yay – fantastic – mum is so excited, she really didn’t want to leave any of the pictures out!

Monday, 27 July 2009

Monday 27th July 2009

Busy busy week for the calendar this week – there is lots of work to be done, good job we’ve had a relaxing weekend! Melvyn, Dave and mum are working so hard on it and there are loads of emails going backward and forwards – whoosh listen to the speed of the broadband!! I would love to do some to help mum out, but my paws are too big for the buttons – think I might end up deleting them …. then I wouldn’t be very popular!

Sunday, 26 July 2009

Sunday 26th July 2009

What an odd day today – we didn't do anything!! I sat and watched the grand prix with the Hardwick gang - first time I’ve ever watched it – but it was exciting! Then it was time for a Hardwick tradition - a Chinese meal for dinner – yum yum lovely!!

Saturday, 25 July 2009

Saturday 25th July 2009

Yay – it’s the weekend – and that means flying!! I got a flight with Uncle Chris today – my second 450hp Stearman I've flown in the week - lucky little me! We bumbled around the East Anglian skies for an hour and that gave me a chance to practise my nav. I was quite impressed with what I recognised and I got us safely back to the airfield … don’t know how impressed Uncle Chris was with having to fly with me!!! After that it was time to chill and relax at Hardwick … just the thing for a Superstar little bear!

Friday, 24 July 2009

Friday 24th July 2009

Uncle Tim looked after me today – and very nicely too. We had fun watching all the aircraft come and go and it was with a tear in my eye that we waved my Guinot friends off – byeee see you soon I hope! Mum then appeared with Justyn in an RV to collect me, not flown in one of those before – but it was fun! We quickly got back to Hardwick as they were some huge thunder clouds around – don’t want to get caught in one of those! We got out and quickly covered the plane up before the thunder started - phew! Whilst it was thundering, Shaun Richardson, Dan Tye and Justyn all bared all for some more photos with the mustang - my name sake, Janie to do another picture for the calendar! Mum – haven’t you got enough yet …. You keep making me blush! They were a cheeky bunch of chappies – but the pictures look good!! Hey Dave – we’ve some more for you to edit!!

Thursday, 23 July 2009

Thursday 23th July 2009

Well I was ready & waiting for Team Guinot to get here from Rendcomb to pick me up (mustn’t forget me!) for the Lowestoft Airshow. I am such a lucky bear to be invited to be part of the Team for the afternoon. First I watched the girls warm up and sort their rigs out, then I had my picture taken with them whilst they went through their routines on the wing – there’s more to that job than I thought! Dave sat me in the pilots seat and I stood next to the wheel, I also sat on the prop, it was such fun, then I flew to the show in the back of the plane. The girls climbed up into the rig over Kessingland and strapped themselves in then we sped up and went into the routine, starting with a loop, it was fab, and I really loved it, 12 minutes of wheeling around the skies! All too soon we came back and landed and I could get my breath back!! WOW!! When can I go again Dave???

Wednesday, 22 July 2009

Wednesday 22nd July 2009

More photos for us to look over today – its sooo exciting!! We love all these pictures – Dave is so clever, this calendar is going to look fabulous – and it’s going to be a sellout! Adventure starting for me for the next couple of days – I’m going to meet up with my mate Dangerous Dave and we’re going to fly in the Lowestoft airshow tomorrow. Mum took me to meet the airfield manager of Seething, Alan Youngs, who looked after me for the evening and got me to the airfield in time to fly in the show. What a little Superstar I am!

Tuesday, 21 July 2009

Tuesday 21st July 2009

Dave has been busy too and he sent some of the pictures through today which he has edited and we printed them off for a better look!! Wow – they look fantastic - Nana Diane was very excited – better not tell Grandad!! More to come tomorrow – can’t wait!!

Monday, 20 July 2009

Monday 20th July 2009

Mum was so pleased today as Dave Cheetham has agreed to edit the photos for the calendar! Such a weight off our minds as he’s a professional in this sort of thing – fantastic … won’t be long now … can’t wait to see it! So mum has been busy emailing them all over to him – hope they don’t clog up his in-box!!

Sunday, 19 July 2009

Sunday 19th July 2009

Another busy day promoting the charity stuff as it was Hardwick's open day and I was right in the middle of it – of course! Uncle Nigel and Debs flew in as well and along with mum & Nana Diane we were on a raffle ticket selling mission – nobody got past Nana Diane, hee hee!! We went down to the 93rd BG museum in the jeep with Uncle Dave driving … oooh had to close my eyes at one point! We managed to sell some as we walked around there & also got some cake for tea – yum yum! No flying for me today though, as it kept raining on & off and was windy again – it’s supposed to be summer for goodness sake :o( But one bright note - we raised a total of £55 today! yay!!

Saturday, 18 July 2009

Saturday 18th July 2009

Weather stops play – AGAIN! We were supposed to be going to a fly in at Boxted but the wind was too strong so we didn’t go – shame. Instead though we managed to get some firemen *swoons* in and another pilot, Mungo, to do the front cover photos for the calendar!! It was a great laugh and we got a very cheeky picture of Newbie!! My my I was so shocked at the goings on & had to hide my eyes – LOL! They were a very cheeky bunch of naked firemen – as you can imagine!! My favourite aircraft, Janie is on the front cover along with them & of course the main attraction – little ol’ me!!

Friday, 17 July 2009

Friday 17th July 2009

What’s happened to the British summer?? All we’ve got again is more rain and wind so no flying for us – boo!! So to cheer ourselves up mum & I had an afternoon in the garden centre – lots of plants & flowers here mum – not sure I’m interested in this!! We did take some more raffle ticket books with us to try and sell lots more tickets!! Hey this is really strange … I could be meeting my prospective new family here – hey mum … don’t sell it to him!!!!!

Thursday, 16 July 2009

Thursday 16th July 2009

The calendar stuff was taking shape today with mum contacting the printer to discuss the type of calendar we want. We decided we want it glossy and shiny – just like my fur LOL! We have decided to have 500 printed – wow that’s a lot to sell but I’m hoping they go like hot cakes – and so they should with a Superstar little bear like me on them!! Oooh and don’t forget those cheeky pilots!!

Wednesday, 15 July 2009

Wednesday 15th July 2009

Another quiet day – well it is nice to have some free time to relax! Airfield night and mum was busy with some paperwork so I went and browsed some internet groups to find some Teddy Bear websites to promote myself on!! Really enjoyed that – some of those bears were rather dishy … wonder if they have a contact chat type thing on the websites – I’ll have to have a look – but don’t tell mum!!

Tuesday, 14 July 2009

Tuesday 14th July 2009

After a bit of negotiating & arm-twisting we arranged for Shaun to come up to Hardwick to do his pictures for the calendar! Yay – fantastic, can’t wait to tell Dangerous Dave that we have finally managed to pull it off! Now he will be on a page with two other bums – but shhh don’t tell them I said that!! Hee hee – getting so excited now, this calendar is really coming together – can’t wait to see it all finished.

Monday, 13 July 2009

Monday 13th July 2009

Well after our busy weekend it was just so nice to have a quiet a restful Monday! I spent a lot of the day snoozing and catching up on my beauty sleep (not that I need it you understand!) – but poor mum had to go to work. Ooops – mustn’t laugh coz she’ll tell me off!!

Sunday, 12 July 2009

Sunday 12th July 2009

Well after our fun-filled evening it was time for some flying again with the Hardwick crew. I was co-pilot again for mum on our trip to Breighton, Yorkshire and back in the Harvard! I got to meet some new people today and was really excited to see our airshow poster was on the wall and a pile of flyers on the side … methinks mum has been here before!!But it was really good to see our poster & flyers doing their job promoting the fund-raising we are doing for the charity.

Saturday, 11 July 2009

Saturday 11th July 2009

Busy busy day today – yippee - got three mustang flights lined up – yay I’m such a lucky little bear! First I flew with mum and Uncle Dave up to Brough (oooh – that caught them out - they had to find a Northern map!). It was family’s day there and Uncle Dave was displaying the mustang and he said I could go along for the ride if I promised to be good!! Oooh my head is still spinning – lots of upside stuff & turns – hope the people on the ground appreciated the G we pulled for them!! After the display mum and I fuelled up (lots of fuel for this aircraft – it took us ages!) and then Uncle Dave flew us back to Hardwick. What a great time – I LOVE flying in the Mustang! I had another treat when we got back as mum flew the Harvard – and of course she had her little co-pilot with her! Then it was time for the Hardwick 1940's big band hanger dance. Wow what a great evening – loads of people dressed up in 1940s clothes & there was lots of jitterbug dancing … I was itching to have a go but I think I have 2 left feet … paws are just not made for dancing! Grandad had got the aircraft outside & they were floodlit & looked amazing … great evening!

Friday, 10 July 2009

Friday 10th July 2009

A friend of mums - Justyn flew up today, he's a nice chap! Now he even offered to strip off for the calendar for us (see I told you I have this effect on the men!!) … now mum is going to hold him to that one! He flew up in a big Jodel – that’s a lovely looking aeroplane! We had coffee and a chat (as you do!) before he departed. Hey – wait a minute - he could have taken me for a ride first, how am I going to build my hours if I keep getting left behind??!!!

Thursday, 9 July 2009

Thursday 9th July 2009

Change of pace today as mum was babysitting her little goddaughter and she needed my expert help of course! We went out with Alison and the boys from the airfield to feed the ducks – cor aren’t they greedy!! We gave them so much bread I thought they’d never be able to fly or that they’d sink on the water!! After that we went to the play barn – wow amazing place I – oops I mean the children (!) had a great time … can we go again mum – please!!

Wednesday, 8 July 2009

Wednesday 8th July 2009

Had to be up early today to go to the airfield at Rendcomb – yawn – need to rub the sleep from my eyes!! It’s a very nice airfield & I got to meet Dave again, one of my favourite pilots – he posed for us on mum’s Harvard! And then at last – I got to meet his pilot buddy, Martyn Carrington! And no sooner did we meet & he was ready to strip off for us – what an effect I have on these boys LOL! Dave hid the plane down the far end of the airfield, away from the girls in the office – no sneaky peeps, you HAVE to buy the calendar to see this!! After a little bit off messing about by the boys and some mickey taking they stripped off and did their pictures! Wow - thanks guys, it’s all for a good cause!! Then we had the long drive home again – mum, next time can we fly please!!
In the evening we went to Hardwick, where the local Military Vehicle Trust came up to visit us. They had lots of interesting vehicles & I was itching to have a go in some, but they chatted to granddad for ages so I never got a chance to ask. The club made a donation of £50 to Bear Faced Cheek and all the members gave a personal donation and in the end we raised £190 in the evening – wow – thanks guys!

Tuesday, 7 July 2009

Tuesday 7th July 2009

Yippee holiday time today! We had to pack all our clothes (well we are girlies!) and got in the car for our journey to Stratton near Cirencester in Gloucestershire. Poor mum had to drive soooo far – it took us 3.5 hours to get there … I wish we flew!! We had a nose around the local area before settling down to watch a couple of DVDs and doing some preparation for the photos tomorrow! We’re spending the day with the cheeky Guinot boys for a duo photo shoot – it will be good to see ‘Dangerous Dave’ again & also to finally meet the elusive Martyn!! I do hope mum has remembered her camera!!

Monday, 6 July 2009

6th July 09

Well after all the excitement of the weekend it was a more sedate day today. Mum & I were busy catching up on some bits & pieces for Bearfacedcheek - there is just a never ending pile of work to do – we need a secretary!!! We also spent some time planning for our trip to Shoreham on 22nd / 23rdAugust – goodie a weekend by the sea!!

Sunday, 5 July 2009

5th July 09

Display today – at Thurston x2!!! First up mum & I went to wow the crowds with our display in the lovely little Auster. Mum is getting so good at this now and isn’t half so nervous any more – and so she shouldn’t be as she’s a girl & girls are great!!! Anyway I made sure I was good in my role of supporting mum – ahh I’m so proud of her! Then it was time for a change of pace as I was strapped in Marinell for a display with Grandad. Ooooohhh I’d forgotten what it was like – all that ‘G’!!! Boy was I ready for a cup of tea & biscuit when I landed … how does Grandad cope with it so effortlessly??!!

Saturday, 4 July 2009

4th July 09

Exciting day today … off to play with the ‘Fly-Boys’ at Wattisham SAR families Day! Nigel was displaying and we all got invited in and I got to fly in a big yellow helicopter – yay!!! It was really exciting and I was surprised how manoeuvrable it was (well actually I think it was a case of the pilot thinking anything these fixed-wing boys can do … LOL!!)! Got my piccie taken with the pilot as well – gosh I’m such a Superstar Bear … everyone wants a pic with me!! We also got looked after very well with a BIG Barbie – I like coming here J

Afterwards we headed off to EGSR for some fuel (& a chance for me to say bye to my Firebear as I’m headed off to Australia for a bit) before taking me back home – it was good to see mum again, I have missed her. Exciting day at Hardwick too as Uncle Chris was going for a check ride in the Yak – hey Uncle Chris, come here – I can tell you ALL about the Yak seeing as I’ve flown it loads!! Hmmm Uncle Chris just gave me a funny look and went to listen to Nigel. Mum & Uncle Dave went up in the Harvard & took some air-to–air pics … but they all left me behind – HEY! That’s not fair !!

Friday, 3 July 2009

3rd July 09

Another really hot day … hmmmm – there are times when I really regret having such a lovely fur coat!! Firewoman Victoria had a headache today – which normally signals thunderstorms (oooohhhh!!). Although the sky got really black today, all we had was a bit of rain (phew - Sou'westers and waders are too heavy for a little bear to wear!!) and at least I didn’t have to look after Victoria as she is rather scared of storms!

No flying for me today coz of this dodgy weather – hmmmm don’t really understand the connection between weather & flying & why the weather effects flying so much. Ooops – shouldn’t have said that out loud – Victoria has decided that I should learn & has given me the PPL study book on weather – gulp! Oh well, every cloud has a silver lining (ha ha!) & it gave me the chance to snuggle up with my lovely Firebear and to learn about clouds. Ooooh – did you know cumulonimbus (CB) clouds contain severe convection currents, with very high, unpredictable winds, particularly in the vertical plane (updrafts and downdrafts). They are therefore extremely dangerous to aircraft. Smaller, propeller-driven planes cannot cope with the conditions and must fly around them ….. aaahh so that’s why them pilots don’t like CBs!!

Thursday, 2 July 2009

2nd July 09

Very hot AGAIN!! Firewoman Vic kept me very busy today – cleaning the fire truck … but the water fight was actually quite cooling!!! LOL! I was supervising the work experience lad & he actually made a very good job of cleaning the truck – it looks wonderful! I was happier to supervise as I didn’t like that red t-cut much .... could have ended up with stained paws, and that would never do!! As my reward I went flying with Sandy Cooke & Lee Merritt in DW (C172) to Maypole. We went to check up on sandy’s new aircraft that he has being built ... it looks very posh – wonder if I’ll get to fly in it??!

1st July 09

Another very hot day. I met two new instructors at EGSR today – one of them took me flying to Elmsett in G-ECAD for a spot of maintenance. Simon Curtis is the other one & he flies Tigermoths at Duxford … wonder if he’s got room for me on one of his trips??! The Rochester Harvard came into EGSR today & it was great telling Simon how I fly one of them on a regular basis!! Think he was very impressed!! Well I am such a clever superstar little bear!!

Tuesday, 30 June 2009

30th June 09

Ooooohhh it’s just soooooo hot – especially with a lovely fur coat on! I have soent all day just lying around trying to get cool – and it’s hard work. Mum sent through confirmation of all the acts for our airshow & they are: Yak 52 with Uncle Nigel; Harvard with Uncle Dave; Dukes of Cassutt with the cheeky chappies Richard Grace, Dave Puleston and Aiden Brown; Extra 300 with Justyn Gorman (ooh that mad whizzy aircraft again!!); Spitfire with Carolyn Grace (I’m going to try & hitch a ride with my favourite lady spitfire pilot!); P-51 Mustang Pair with Grandad and Uncle Rob …. What a GREAT show this is going to be!!!!

Monday, 29 June 2009

29th June 09

After my hectic weekend it was time for a rest and EGSR and a chance to meet up with my Firebear … oooh I have missed him so much. We had so much to catch up on and spent the whole day talking and chatting – so much so I never got a single ride in an aircraft! Ooops – don’t tell mum, but I really don’t mind coz it was so good to see my bear!

Sunday, 28 June 2009

28th June 09

Yay more pictures at Hardwick this morning – we’re getting there. But I’ve lost count of the bums I’ve seen – what a thing for a little innocent bear to say!!! I then got to fly in the Extra (that little whizzy aircraft) and went with Justyn to Old Buck where I done a display with him. Oooohhh spinning head again – how do these guys manage to fly the aircraft like this??!! After that I headed off to Rougham (again) with Justyn, where I had yet another display with him. Oh I feel sick now – I need some food and drink… thankfully Falcon Firecrew were on hand to help me out. I went home with Auntie Debs again in the Yak – nice and gentle back to EGSR. After that we drove to EGST to do a flight test in YAKO another yak!! Wow – what a busy day – I’ll sleep well tonight!

Saturday, 27 June 2009

27th June 09

Start of a busy, but fun weekend! First off we flew to Martlesham for a display at BT families day. We were the first aircraft to land at Martlesham for many years – this place has a great history as a famous RAF station – but now the land is home to BT. We landed on a strip of grass at the back of the site called ‘The Range’ which is used for testing new telephones! I had my 1st Yak display today – and my head is still spinning … what happened during a lomcevak – I had NO idea which way was up! After that it was off to Rougham where I met up with mum again, and this time displayed with her in the Auster – much more sedate & ladylike I’ll have you know! Mum, Dom & I then headed home to Hardwick, dodging the rain & storms & CBs on the way! The viz was really crap in places – but good old mum got us safetly home! We then were waiting for Justyn & Mungo to turn up for their photo-shoot, poor mum was getting so worried as the weather wasn’t very nice and they were late. But thankfully all was ok & they turned up so that we could go out for a meal, while everyone else made do with a Chinese at the hanger!

Friday, 26 June 2009

26th June 09

Auntie Debs & Uncle Nigel came to Hardwick this afternoon – in a Cessna (makes a chance from a Yak!) Uncle Nigel had to do mum’s biannual so we all went flying in the Harvard – yippee! We had to do a navigation trip to find Wisbech St Mary, where mum is displaying at the weekend. Then Uncle Nigel had us do some stalling on the way back … ooohh errr – not sure I like that – why are you making a perfectly good aircraft stop flying?? Just don’t get it! Then it was time for me to go off for a little trip back to EGSR in ECAD the Cessna, cor it was hot in there today, weather is a tad warm!! After that I had a treat as we had to take the Yak to EGST for weekend as it is easier to base it out of there for the displays that are lined up!

Thursday, 25 June 2009

Thursday 25th June 2009

Mum & I have created a list of places we want to try & plug the calendars ... & sell them too!
We've also spoken to Ben - he is going to draw up some contracts .... eek! scary stuff!!

Mum rang the calendar printers today and everything is still cool with them!
We've emailed 4 of the calendar proofs to printed up - exciting! Not much time left to get it all right!!

A relaxing day today after a hectic weekend!!

Sunday, 21 June 2009

21st June 09

Hardwick open day today & a chance to sell lots of tickets and do lots of promotion for our airshow and the calendar yay!! Auntie Emma and Nannie did ever so well bullying, I mean asking people to buy my raffle tickets, they were very generous and in total we raised £130!! We are doing well so well in our fund raising efforts! We got a little wet in the morning but the day brightened up and we had lots of fun, and I even got a T6 flight with Mum and Auntie Emma! I met Ben from Sywell museum, now he is a cheeky chap! I did have to hide at one stage as four men threatened to kidnap me! Meanies – grrr!! But to cheer me up mum had many offers to take me flying – in lots of different and exciting aircraft!!

20th June 09

Today Julian Murfitt came to Hardwick in his Extra – wow I like these little whizzy aircraft!! Anyway WHEN he found the right airfield (heehee – poor naviagation!) he stripped off ALL his clothes on the end of the runway and mum snapped a lot of pictures!! I wasn't in these pictures as I was busy flying in the Mustang at the time - I have such a hard life! We went and did a display at Hucknall (love that whistle as we loop & roll around!) and then we went into Tibenham! Oh I’m such a busy busy bear – but I love it!

19th June 09

It was Ken’s funeral today & Grandad had arranged this lovely flypast for him as he loved the aircraft. Mum & I flew in the Harvard leading the formation and Grandad and Uncle Dave flew Janie and Marinell – such a lovely tribute to a lovely man. Everybody said how well we all done and how Ken would have loved it … and I must confess to having a tear in my eye.

18th June 09

Been busy today working on some more airshow stuff – just how much is there to do??!! Mum managed to arrange for a local company (Dissigns) to do a big banner for us free for the airshow! They were ever so nice people and the best bit is they are even going to put a picture of me on it!! How cool is that?!! Well come on let’s face it anything with me on is going to be good – coz I’m such a famous lovable little bear!!

17th June 09

Grandad was busy today as he had to test fly the Harvard this evening, ready for Ken's funeral on Friday. Thankfully all was well and it looks like mum & I will be able to lead the 3 ship flypast formation.

16th June 09

Busy night again working on the Harvard, but we’re almost there. There are so many bits on that engine I daren’t interfere knowing my luck I’d lose something – bears paws are just not made for intricate work!! Mum and I were kept busy though by making the boys plenty of tea to keep them working! Must have done the trick coz they worked ever so hard – thanks Grandad, mum wants her ‘red-nosed baby’ fixed so we can go flying!

15th June 09

Today was a stormy old day with thunder and lightening all around but being British we done what we’re so good at & had a barbeque in the rain!! Yay! Love a summer BBQ complete with a storm! What a sight though with the clouds and lightening - fantastic! But I will have to admit that some of those big bangs made me jump – but don’t tell anyone … I don’t want people thinking I’m a scaredy cat!!

14th June 09

Our big day out today!! The Hardwick crew headed down to Bentwaters to support the Cold War Museum open day –it was great fun flying in a loose formation with all these wonderful aircraft … but mum wouldn’t let me fly in a mustang – boo!! Mum & I had our first airshow display – yay it was fun! Mum was SOOOO nervous and I had to spend ages calming her down – ‘chill out mum – it’s only flying and you do that all the time’ I just didn’t understand her nerves – and I don’t think she understood me!! Anyway I flew with her and it was great, we both enjoyed ourselves very much and I so much fun waving to the huge crowd of people! We met up with Guy & the Falcon Fire Crew and handed out a load of flyers! Great day – but very tired … slept soundly tonight!

13th June 09

A quiet day at Hardwick but with plenty of maintenance going on – oooh I don’t like that – the oil and grease makes such a mess of my fur, not really a job for the girls is it – especially when we have the boys to do it!! I did manage to sneak into the Auster with mum for a couple of practice displays before THE big day tomorrow – our 1st Airdisplay! I'm so very excited – I don’t know how I’ll possibly sleep tonight??!

12th June 09

A very sad day today, so we cancelled all our plans. A very dear friend of mum and her family died of cancer. So it was bit of a shock to us all and left us all very sad. So in great British tradition we had a drink in his honour. May he rest in peace.

11th June 09

Mum & I sat down today and put together some ideas for the airshow. Oooh it is so complicated to put together, I just thought a few people got up to fly – but it’s not like that at all – lots of red tape. Where’s Uncle Dave when you need him??! We asked a very cheekily to try and get a sponsor for the last month on the calendar, but with no luck. Meanies!! But we will keep trying!!

10th June 09

Today Carolyn Grace confirmed that she will display for us at out Shipdham airshow!! YAY!! Two confirmations in as many days – this is great. We are very grateful to her - what an attraction that will be! Now does she have room for little ole me to fly with her?? I’m only small & I’ll be very good … and it will be good for the girls to fly together. I sooo hope so … please … PLEASE!!

Tuesday, 9 June 2009

9th June 09

The Dukes of Cassutt confirmed today that they are happy to come up to Shipdham and display for us – yippee more acts for our airshow!! They are a cheeky bunch of chappies so we should have some fun with them … wonder if it’s too late to persuade them to model for our calendar LOL?? Hmmm - wonder if I could hitch a ride with them during their display?? Only problem their aircraft are very small and only single seaters – don’t know if I fancy sitting that close to them!!

Monday, 8 June 2009

8th June 09

A quiet day today, well we did have lots of excitement this weekend. Mum has been busy putting in her displays in the diary, and it’s going well so far! Thanks to Auntie Debs and Uncle Nigel for drumming up support! We’re off to do Rougham, Seething, Wisbech & Thurston – I’m looking forward to this – gonna be a famous display bear yipee!!

Sunday, 7 June 2009

7th June 09

The day after the night before - Hardwick very amusing today! There was no flying as it was raining cats and dogs, and most people had a hangover after the wedding and looked all very sleepy! After a bit of persuasion we did manage to get everyone motivated to put the aircraft back inside after the rain stopped – but they were very wet! Oops!!

Saturday, 6 June 2009

6th June 09

Today’s the day … not flying but Emma and Ian's wedding! Yipee! It was a mad at home this morning with everybody trying to get ready – poor Grandad he really didn’t enjoy that at all!! But in the end it was worth it as Emma & her bridesmaids looked absolutely stunning, as did nannie! It was a really good day & the weather held good – bit of wind, but no rain. Emma & Ian arrived back at Hardwick in a horse drawn carriage and it looked a real cool way to travel – but mum wouldn’t let me have a go!! Never mind I was able to boogie the night away … even Uncle Dave managed a dance or two!

Friday, 5 June 2009

5th June 09

I was spoilt today as we’re on the serious countdown to tomorrow’s wedding. Us girlies went to the beauty salon and got pampered for the afternoon! I could get used to that – my fur has never looked so shiny and as for the nails on my paws! It was all wedding talk today instead of flying – which was rather strange to get used to. The marquee is up & decorated and looks fantastic, just hope we have nice weather now.

Thursday, 4 June 2009

4th June 09

I spoke to Melvyn today … ok – mum spoke to Melvyn today – I’m still a bit nervous using the phone as big paws and little buttons are not a good mix – last time I ended up speaking to the local take-away! Anyway mum done a brilliant job and got some of our publishing sorted out. We’re sending him over more pictures of our naked pilots - good job he is a cheeky chappy too!!!

Wednesday, 3 June 2009

3rd June 09

Mum & I had a calendar day today & we have arranged more pictures to do, while Auntie Debs & Vic have their airfield CAA inspection today – now why didn’t they ask me to come down & help them … I have a good relationship with the CAA!! Julian has given us a date of June 20th to come up and get cheeky for us! Paws crossed for good weather – the pilots really don’t like taking their clothes off when it’s cold … can’t see the problem myself!!

Tuesday, 2 June 2009

2nd June 09

Busy day today, mum & I were looking at possible participants in our airshow at Shipdham (not long to go now!) We had some great news Rob Davies has confirmed that he will do a pairs display with ‘Grandad’ today!! YAY! What a sight and sound will two merlins be in the skies of Norfolk! Now I wonder which one I will hitch a ride in (now sssshhh don’t tell Uncle Dave as display aircraft are not allowed to take passengers!) – Janie is my favourite (for obvious reasons – LOL!) but I don’t know if Grandad is bringing her coz it might be Marinell’s turn …. Or I could fly with Uncle Rob in Big Beautiful Doll ….. oh decisions decisions – what is a bear to do ??!!

Monday, 1 June 2009

1st June 09

A quiet day today. Thought I’d take it easy and use the day for a few girlie beauty treatments (not that I need them you understand!!) – mind you those fancy creams play havoc with my fur, don’t really know what mum & Debs see in them! Thought I’d finish the day off with an early night – need all my strength to do more air show stuff tomoz!
